Rotorua man identified

Police now know the identity of a man found dead in Rotorua on Monday.
At approximately 8.45 this morning police received a report from of a 22-year-old man missing from an address in Rotorua. Officers have followed up on this report and confirmed that this is the young man found on Monday. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the last known movements of the man and this information will be referred to the Coroner.
The man's name will not be released until family members have been advised.
Detective Sergeant Tony Colby said: "I would like to take the opportunity to thank the community for their help with this appeal. The sharing of our updates, particularly across social media, has been overwhelming with messages of support received from across New Zealand and even overseas. These cases, whilst incredibly sad, demonstrate the true compassion that the majority of our community have for one another at times of need. We are pleased that we are able to at least return this young man to his family and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time."
