New Plymouth Police are appealing for witnesses after a 41-year-old woman was struck by a 4WD on Brougham Street yesterday afternoon.
At approximately 4:45pm a dark coloured 4WD Land Cruiser with a bull bar on the front has driven up Brougham Street. Police believe the woman was exiting her vehicle when she was struck by the 4WD.
"We want to speak to anyone that saw the crash or the 4WD travelling in the vicinity of Brougham and Powderham Streets. These streets are normally very busy at this time of the day and I encourage anyone that saw the crash or has any information to contact Police," says Constable Lee Rose of the New Plymouth Traffic Group.
The Serious Crash Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
The seriously injured woman is in a critical condition in Wellington Hospital.
If anyone has any information please contact Constable Lee Rose on (06) 215 4968. Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
