More efficient Peel Street traffic lights
The halogen bulbs in the traffic lights at the intersection of Peel Street and Gladstone Road are being replaced this week. The bulbs will be replaced with LED units that consume less energy and last longer.
There will also be some minor adjustments to the signals to accommodate changes to the right hand rule at intersections.
The changes will take two days. Work started today. The lights will be turned off but appropriate traffic management will be in place to ensure everyone is kept safe.
All those using the intersection will experience some delay and it is recommended that parallel routes be used where practical to avoid the intersection.
The Council thanks road users for their patience while these improvements are made.
