Long weekend traffic conditions
Waikato Roads are already congested as motorists travel home after the long weekend. Waikato Police request patience whilst travelling home this Sunday evening.
Waikato District Road Policing Manager, Inspector Freda Grace, said Waikato Police would like all motorists heading home from the Coromandel to take extra care on the roads this evening.
“Plan your journey, ensure you are not fatigued and display patience with the congested roads. If returning home from the Coromandel area, Police request wherever possible motorists utilise the Kopu bridge rather than travelling through Paeroa.
“Bad driver behaviour will be targeted by Police this evening, and Police are applying a 4 km/h tolerance to speeding. Do not become a road statistic, watch your following distances and drive within the conditions.
“Police would like everyone’s holiday to end on a happy note rather than a tragedy, and for all motorists to return home safely this evening without any incidents. A safe journey is much more important than a quick journey.
