Man dies following alleged Assault

Dunedin Police have launched a homicide enquiry following the death of a local man at a Dunedin bar.
At approximately 1.45am Police and Ambulance officers were called to the Craft Bar in the Octagon in relation to an alleged assault.
On arrival a 35 year old male was found unconscious in the toilet area and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
The investigation is in its early stages with the scene contained and a road closure in part of the lower Octagon in place.
Approximately 60 people were believed to be in the bar at the time of the alleged assault. Police have interviewed several of these witnesses and are following a strong line of enquiry.
Police will not be releasing the name of the deceased until next of kin have been notified.
