Update 2 - Shooting Makara Beach
Wellington Police have charged two middle aged men with serious assault following the incident on Makara Beach. Both men will be appearing in court tomorrow morning.
Police can confirm that the victim is a 55 year old man who remains in a stable condition with non-life threatening injuries in Wellington hospital.
No further details concerning the three individuals' involved will be provided at this time.
Police are still interested to hear from members of the public who may have seen a blue 1990 Mitsubishi Mirage car which was seen leaving the Makara beach area shortly after the incident heading towards Karori (photo attached).
The firearm used in the shooting is believed to be a shotgun and remains outstanding at this stage.
Police would still like to hear from anyone who has information in relation to this vehicles movements, the location of the firearm or the incident itself to please contact the Wellington Central Police station on 04 381 2000.
Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Police are speaking with and supporting the victims' family.
Makara Beach has reopened to the public.
