Serious Assault – Cannons Creek park, Castor Crescent, Porirua
Police are investigating a serious assault that occurred on Thursday night between 10.30pm – 11.30pm 17 April 2014 at Cannons Creek Park, Porirua.
Police were initially called at 3am on Good Friday, 18th April 2014, by staff at Kenepuru Hospital in regards to the male victim with a serious head injury.
It has been established the male had been walking home after having dinner at a friend’s house in Worcester Street. It appears the victim has taken a short cut through Cannons Creek Park where Police have since discovered fresh blood and items belonging to the victim.
The Police examination of the entrance to Cannons Creek Park, off Castor Street, has determined a group of people may have been hanging out in the area while drinking alcohol.
Local inquiries have established this as a regular location for people to congregate and drink alcohol.
The victim is currently in Hospital with a suspected fractured skull, he is in a serious condition.
The Police would like to warn people to be vigilant if out walking at night in this area.
Police would also like hear from anyone who has knowledge about this incident, or may know of people who were in this area on Thursday night between 10.30pm and midnight, please contact the Wellington Crime Squad on 3812077.
