Fatal shooting in Gisborne

Early this morning Police and ambulance officers attended an incident following a shooting at a local residence in Te Hapara, Gisborne.
A 39 year old man was found with a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital where he has later passed away. The man’s family is currently being support by Police and Victim Support staff.
Police are speaking with three people in relation to this incident and are not looking for any other individuals at this point.
No further information on the deceased man will be released until additional family have been advised and formal identification has taken place.
As this investigation is in the early stages, there will be no further comment at this time.
