*"Travel warning for motorists - State Highway One between Picton and Kaikoura - Tasman"*
Police advise motorists of the need for extreme caution on State Highway One between Kaikoura and Picton due to 24 reported slips and partial road blockages following heavy rain in the area.
Senior Sergeant Stu Koeofed of Tasman Police stated that motorists should stay away from the area unless travel there was absolutely necessary but to check before leaving home that the road was still open as further heavy rain was expected overnight.
“Any motorists travelling that portion of State Higway One should expect delays which could be considerable”.
