New Ambulance launch for the Wairarapa
Wellington Free Ambulance is launching a brand new $280 thousand ambulance for the Wairarapa in a unique event in
Greytown tomorrow, Wednesday April 16.
The state of the art ambulance will be launched at Kuranui College in Greytown beginning 1.15 p.m. on Wednesday April
16.
During the launch college students will take part in a special Heartbeat CPR training session.
The ambulance will be officially launched by South Wairarapa Mayor Adrienne Staples and people attending will get the
chance to check out the new ambulance and equipment afterwards.
The introduction of this new ambulance means the Wairarapa has a new and modern fleet of emergency ambulances with the
very latest design and vehicle specifications.
“With the size of the geographical area that the Wairarapa covers and the distances our ambulances have to travel to get
to patients, having a modern and reliable fleet of ambulances is essential,” says Andy Long, Executive Manager for
Service Delivery.
“We are very pleased with our new design of ambulances which has had significant input from our paramedics”.
Wellington Free Ambulance has been operating in the Wairarapa since 2012, and it also provides emergency ambulance
services in Wellington and Kapiti.
Wellington Free Ambulance is the only ambulance service in the country which does not charge its patients and as such
relies heavily on donations from the public.
