Public meeting on council annual plan proposals
Rotorua District Council (RDC) is giving local residents the opportunity to discuss proposals for the next financial year at a public meeting this week.
The meeting on the council’s 2014/15 draft annual plan is on Thursday (17 April) at 5pm at the council Civic Centre, and any interested Rotorua resident is welcome to attend.
The draft plan identifies council programmes and projects for the coming year, proposals to support Rotorua 2030 vision and goals, and budgets.
Rotorua mayor Steve Chadwick said she encourages local residents to share their views with council before submissions on the draft plan close on 2 May.
“The public meeting and the whole consultation process is an opportunity for the community to tell us if we remain on track with our detailed proposals for the coming financial year (2014/15) as set out in the draft annual plan.
“We’re even prepared to come along and meet with community groups to discuss our proposals and listen to their views, as community engagement is a critical component in developing our forwards plans.
“The council needs to know whether our proposals are backed by residents, so we’re urging Rotorua people to use the submission process to give us their views. Nothing is set in concrete yet as we want community feedback before we finalise our plan.”
The full 130 page draft annual plan and online submission forms are available on the RDC website rdc.govt.nz. Submission forms and summaries of the draft plan can also be picked up from the council Customer Centre, City Focus or Library.
Submissions on the council’s 2014/15 draft annual plan close on Friday 2 May.
Thursday’s public meeting on the 2014/15 draft annual plan is at 5pm at the council Civic Centre.
