East Auckland Homicide
Police have arrested a 70 year old man this morning following the discovery of a body in the East Auckland suburb of Glen Innes late last night.
The man has been charged with murder and will appear in Auckland District Court next week.
Police are working to identify the male victim and will not release further details about him until a positive identification is confirmed and next of kin is notified.
A scene examination is continuing at the Glen Innes address and will continue throughout the day to establish what happened and confirm the movements of both the offender and victim prior to the incident.
Detective Senior Sergeant Aaron Pascoe says it is clear that something violent occurred at the address. "However we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident."
No further information will be available until an ID has been made on the victim which may take more than 24 hours.
All media enquiries should be directed to Kimberley Mathews, however no more information is expected to be released today.
