Aggravated robbery at a Whangarei motel

Police are investigating the aggravated robbery at a Whangärei motel early this morning.
About 2am two male offenders entered a unit at the Aotea Motel where the duty manager and his partner were staying.
The two men demanded cash and then assaulted the duty manager before running off with some items from the motel unit.
The 58-year-old victim was kicked and punched by the offenders and was taken to Whangärei Hospital with moderate injuries. His 61-year-old female partner was uninjured.
Police are appealing for information from anyone who saw any men acting suspiciously on Otaika Road near the Otaika shops between 1.30am and 3am.
