Bay of Plenty
The investigation into a dog attack in Murupara on Monday, 3 March is now complete and the two owners of the four dogs involved in this attack have been summonsed to appear in court jointly charged with an offence against Section 58 of the Dog Control Act; namely owning a dog which causes serious injury.
Following the attack, the owners took immediate steps to have all four dogs put to sleep. Seven-year-old Sakurako Uehara remains in hospital undergoing treatment for her injuries.
The owners of the dogs will appear in Rotorua District Court in April.
As the matter is before the court there will be no further police comment.
