Homicide inquiry begins in Manawatu
The 49-year-old woman who has been in the Palmerston North Hospital with critical injuries since Thursday evening, passed away at approximately 11.30am yesterday morning in the presence of her family.
This is now a homicide investigation. Considerable work has been completed since last Thursday and investigators have a clear understanding of the woman’s movements in the days leading up to this incident.
A post-mortem examination is being conducted today. The results of this will greatly assist the investigation team in understanding her injuries and how they may have been sustained.
A team of nine detectives are involved with the investigation. The scene examination has now been completed.
