Fatal House Fire

Fatal House Fire

At about 04:45am this morning, Police and Fire staff attended a house fire on the Bluff Highway in Invercargill, having been alerted to the fire by a passing member of the public.
Upon arrival, staff confirmed that both the dwelling and a second structure, located on the same section, were ablaze. A body was subsequently located on the property, deceased, and a number of the occupants of the dwelling were also transported to Invercargill hospital for treatment related to smoke inhalation.
An investigation into the incident has commenced and Police and Fire staff will be at the scene today.
Police will not be releasing any further information at this stage as the investigation is in the very early stages and Next-of-Kin need to be informed.
