Rebuild & Renovate Christchurch Home Show Puts Public Concerns in Front of Industry Experts
The rebuild of Christchurch might well be underway, but the reality of what’s involved in a rebuild or renovation is
turning out to be far more confusing than anyone could have imagined. The Rebuild & Renovate Christchurch Home Show is the perfect place to offer both guidance and advice to Cantabrians stuck within a
daunting rebuild process.
Amanda Magnus, Exhibitions and Events Exhibition Director says the show has been designed especially with Cantabrian
needs in mind. “We want people to have the best possible start to their rebuild process,” says Magnus. “The show has
numerous experts from all industries on site and ready to answer any question about minor renovations through to a
complete rebuild,” she said.
Opening at 10am this Friday March 14 at Christchurch’s CBS Canterbury Arena Addington, Rebuild & Renovate Christchurch offers three days of FREE seminars hosted by some of the industry’s top experts as well as
hundreds of innovative products and solutions for any home project on display.
Exhibitor Michelle van Dinther of Realty Returns is a big fan of the Rebuild & Renovate Show having been someone who has dealt with the concerns and frustrations of Cantabrians trying to rebuild for
the past few years. “Rebuild & Renovate offers us a real opportunity to have face-to-face conversations with people concerned about their personal
situation,” says van Dinther.
“Many people have no understanding at all of the new processes involved and the many small contract details that can
cause a lot of stress and heartache further down the track if overlooked in the beginning,” she says.
Nina Baillie of Greywacke Design is one of those experts hosting seminars throughout the weekend looking at the key
renovation projects of kitchens and bathrooms from innovation through to installation. “I’m advising people to think
about functionality versus style,” said Baillie.
“I want to provide people with a scope of what they need to think about when it comes to their project; provide some
insight as to who they need they need to talk to; where to go to get consent, how to look at their current and proposed
layout, even down to choosing the right kind of appliances,” she says.
Amanda Magnus notes the most important fact about Christchurch is that there are a huge number of people facing a
rebuild or renovation project, not through choice but completely through necessity.
“For some people it’s still a completely daunting concept and something that they had not planned on having to
undertake, but now they do and we are here to try and help make (their process) as easy as possible,” she says.

The Rebuild & Renovate Christchurch Home Show features more than 150 exhibitors at the CBS Canterbury Arena in Addington, and runs
from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 March. Show categories include kitchens, bathrooms, interiors, outdoor living and green. The
seminar topics run from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm on all three days. Rebuild and Renovate is organised by Exhibitions and
Events New Zealand. EENZ and EEA (Exhibitions and Events Australia Pty Ltd.) have ten home and building shows scheduled
for 2014 across both countries.
