New Brighton assault victim dies

Christchurch Police have confirmed that a man injured in an alleged assault at New Brighton on Sunday 2 March has died.
Alfoed [correct] Utapo Waterhouse, aged 20, died at Christchurch Hospital yesterday [Sunday 9 March]. He had been in the hospital's intensive care unit with critical injuries following an assault at a Beresford Street address in the early hours of the previous Sunday, 2 March.
A 20-year old Christchurch man appeared in court on 3 March charged with injuring with intent, and was remanded on bail to reappear on 24 March.
A second man, aged 30, appeared on an assault charge on Friday 7 March and was remanded on bail to reappear on Wednesday [12 March].
Police are now considering laying additional charges against the primary offender.
