Eight year old child dies at logging site
At about 5.15pm on Friday 7th March, Balclutha, Milton and Dunedin Police attended an incident at a logging site in the Manuka gorge area.
The incident was not a logging accident, but has resulted in the death of a child. The boy has been identified as Jonathan James KERR, aged 8 years of Milton.
Police seized a vehicle from the site and this will undergo forensic and electrical testing. This may take several days.
The cause of death will not be released by Police, as this matter is now a coroner’s enquiry.
