Arthurs Pass Area, Canterbury, Search & Rescue
A Search operation is currently underway for two overdue trampers in Aurthers Pass.
The two overdue trampers from Christchurch left Klondyke Corner for an overnight tramp on Saturday 1 March 2014.
It is believed the pair were travelling from Klondyke Corner to the Waimakariri Falls and the Waimakariri Col area.
The pair were reported overdue on the evening of Sunday 2 March 2014.
A helicopter search of the area on Monday 3 March 2014 was carried out, however unsuccessful.
The search resumes on Tuesday 4 March 2014.
A helicopter, the Alpine Cliff Rescue team, and Land SAR search teams will be deployed in the area.
Weather in the area has been cold with southerly fronts.
Police do not believe the two trampers, a 56 year old male and his 24 year old daughter, are sufficiently prepared.
Police have concerns for the wellbeing of the overdue trampers.
Police appeal for any information from other trampers who were in the area over the weekend of 1 - 2 March 2014 that may have seen or spoken with the overdue trampers. Ph 03 363 7400
Police expect to have further information available later today.
