Celebrate the best of summer at the Waikato Food and Wine Festival!
The Waikato Food and Wine Festival is beginning to take shape on the Claudelands Lawn, Hamilton. This Saturday March 1st and Sunday March 2nd will be home to over thirty local and regional suppliers of delicious food, stunning wines and beer.
Set to be Waikato’s best day out this summer, the lush green expanse next to Claudelands Arena will be a hive of activity and organisers look forward to opening the gates at 11am on Saturday to the public ready to celebrate the fifth year of the local event.
“We’re really thrilled to be presenting this event,” says Event Director Paul Blomfield, “it’s the one event in the Waikato region that really highlights the brilliant local cuisine, boutique wines, eclectic beers and cocktails that are on offer all in the one relaxed setting.”
Alongside the food and beverage options, the Kitchen Things Cooking Theatre will be a live and interactive ‘how to’ guide on mastering cooking tips and kitchen techniques. With chef demonstrations from top chefs including Paul Jobin, 2013 winning Masterchef Aaron Brunet, Mikey Newlands of Bracu, local stars Jeff Dunstan (Domaine), Lorna Haddon and Kerry Wilson (Furnace) and a host of other top cooking talent, these are demonstrations not to be missed!
With your glass of wine or coffee in one hand, and plate of food in the other, head over to the Main Stage where a host of local and international musicians will set the scene with their dynamic mix of jazz and Delta blues classics and Latin American Salsa.
Jan Preston, known internationally as the knockout boogie pianist, the groovy Spiral with their soul and samba vibes and smooth blues players Kokomo as well as host of other will have toes tapping and fingers snapping well into the evening.
“Gather your friends, grab your sun umbrella and picnic rug and bring your festival spirit along to what will be Waikato’s best day out this summer!” says Paul.
With tickets only $20 plus booking fee from Ticketek and parking aplenty available, foodies and social-gathering enthusiasts are encouraged to head along and enjoy an afternoon of delicious food, gorgeous wine, smooth sounds and great company.
