Regional Flavours on Show at Waikato Food and Wine Festival
The Waikato Food & Wine Festival on Saturday March 1st and Sunday March 2nd on the Claudelands Lawn is set to be the Waikato’s best day
out yet with organisers ready to celebrate its fifth year highlighting local cuisine and boutique wineries from around
the region.
The lush green expanse next to Claudelands Arena will be a welcome hive of activity throughout the festival weekend
complete with chef demonstrations, many different foods for purchasing and a schedule of top live musical acts to enjoy
with friends and family.
Event Director Paul Blomfield is thrilled with this year’s line-up “The Waikato Food and Wine Festival is now well
established as the Region’s leading wine and culinary event,” says Paul.
“It’s the perfect opportunity for Waikato to celebrate not only what is fantastic about the region, but also to showcase
local undiscovered talent and produce.”
The only event of its kind currently in the Waikato region, the festival offers something for everyone with over twenty
food exhibitors and fifteen wineries on hand to tempt and satisfy even the most selective of palates.
Those wishing to learn how to perfect their skills in the kitchen can take inspiration from top chef Paul Jobin and 2013
winning Masterchef Aaron Brunet, as well as a host of other top cooking talent in the Kitchen Things Cooking Theatre.
Once motivated, visitors can head over to one of the many home ware specialists onsite ready to equip kitchen pantries
for culinary masterpiece creation.
With glass of wine or coffee in one hand, and plate of food in the other, take a seat and listen to the sounds of top
local and international musicians including the Andrew London Trio, Jan Preston, Banda Latina and more bringing an
eclectic mix of jazz and blues classics through to Latin American Salsa to enhance the festival atmosphere.
With adult tickets only $20 plus booking fee from Ticketek and parking aplenty available, foodies and social-gathering
enthusiasts are encouraged to head along and enjoy an afternoon of delicious food, gorgeous wine, smooth sounds and
great company.
