Charity Auction of Sweet Sail Boat
Northland’s R. Tucker Thompson Youth Sail Training Trust has been generously donated a beautiful West Wright Potter 19ft sail boat to auction in order to raise funds for their youth development voyages.
The Potter 19 is a sweet little boat which is deceptively spacious inside and offers ultimate flexibility. With its four sleeping berths and seating for five, it provides comfortable overnight cruising, with its retractable keel it is perfect for going ashore, yet can be easily taken home on its trailer for storage.  Extremely stable, the sail boat has closed cell foam flotation fore and aft, and is virtually unsinkable. She is the ideal boat for a couple or young family looking for a practical and versatile family holiday option.
The boat has been lovingly looked after by its owner and is in excellent condition.  Below decks, the teak finish creates a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. A galley with stove and sink, as well as a Porta-Potti means that a night or two away from home is extremely comfortable. Complete with sails and outboard, the sailing boat is ready to go and just waiting for a new owner.
The local Bay of Islands resident offered it to the Trust to do with as they wished, knowing that 100% of the proceeds would be directed towards delivering the Trust’s youth development voyages. The Trust decided that it would auction the little boat, named Puffin, to help subsidise students to come on their winter sail training voyage.
“We are extremely grateful for this wonderful offer” commented Executive Trustee Jane Hindle. “We hope that someone out there will appreciate this sweet little boat and make an equally generous bid, knowing that the money is going to a really good cause, back into developing our young people.”
Bidding for the West Wright will be conducted onTradeMe(where full specifications are available.). The auction will run until 9th March.
