Storm Warning: Boaties Advised to Secure Moorings
The Metservice has a storm warning in force for coastal Southland and Southland Regional Harbourmaster Kevin O’Sullivan is advising boaties to secure their moorings.
The advisory applies to boaties with moorings anywhere along the southern coast from Fiordland to the Catlins, including Stewart Island.
Expect northwest winds to 40 knots, rising to 55 knots at about midday. The seas will become high for a time with southwest swells to 4 metres.
The wind will change to southwest and ease to 35 knots this evening.
