Assault victim still critical
The 23 year-old man assaulted at a Mt Eden residential address last night is still in a critical condition in Auckland Hospital with family at his side.
Police secured the Bellwood Ave property where the incident occurred at about 8.10pm and have all but completed the scene examination.
Auckland City CIB’s Detective Inspector Chris Cahill says the victim and his brother left Eden Park shortly before the assault happened at a private property where a party was taking place.
“Staff have spoken to residents and party-goers and are trying to get to the bottom of what took place and who is responsible for the young man’s head injuries.
“We are liaising with hospital staff and supporting the man’s family at this difficult time.”
Mr Cahill urged anyone with information that might assist the investigators to contact Auckland City CIB on 09 302 6400 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
