HBRC appoints new Science Manager
Hawke’s Bay Regional Council has appointed Dr Stephen Swabey to the role of Environmental Science Manager.
The appointment was made this week by HBRC’s Resource Management Group Manager Iain Maxwell.
“I am extremely pleased that we’ve been able to attract to this role someone of Stephen’s calibre,” says Iain Maxwell, “I look forward to his arrival in the region and the perspective that he will bring to our wider team.”
Dr Swabey has a background in geology and hydro-geology and comes to Hawke’s Bay from Australia where he currently works for environmental consultancy company, Umwelt Australia Pty Ltd. He has previously worked for the Ministry for the Environment and was Natural Hazards Manager at Otago Regional Council.
Dr Swabey will lead a team of 29 environmental scientists and technicians and joins Hawke’s Bay Regional Council on 10 March 2014.
