Weather pattern remains changeable
This week the weather over most parts of New Zealand is likely to remain changeable.
Auckland gets off relatively lightly with fine spells expected for Monday and Tuesday. The east coast of the North Island will benefit most, with the wet stuff being replaced by sunnier skies and temperatures back into the mid-twenties.
"The troublesome area of low pressure which brought some wet weather to eastern areas of the North Island and Wellington over the weekend, looks like it will finally pull away to leave some brighter weather there for Tuesday," said MetService Meteorologist John Law. "However, another area of low pressure, accompanied by a cooler southwest flow, is set to push cloud and some rain over the South Island during the week."
Current indications are for higher pressure and settled weather for the end of the week, in time for Valentine's Day and the second cricket test match at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, but it'd pay to stay up to date with the latest forecasts before embarking on that romantic picnic.
