Summer to date has brought us two dry months, with January’s rainfall being almost a carbon copy of December’s - both
months recording a fairly measly 60% of the usual totals. Thankfully we headed into summer with our water stocks in good
health, so our soil moisture and groundwater levels still look okay at this stage while river levels have dropped on
average to around half their usual flows. There has been the odd water quality glitch in a few places, which we are
busily investigating, but by and large our bathing spots were good as gold. Daytime temperatures took a wee dive at the
end of the month but averaged out to be bang on target for the time of year however if you found that, strangely for
January, you were able to get a good night’s sleep or heaven forbid started rummaging for your bed socks, you’d be right
in thinking the nights were chillier than we’ve come to expect. To the point one person threw the “f” word at me …
reckoned there was a hint of a frost on one of the mornings.
