Wear Pink This February
The Pinikilicious Organising Committee are calling all women, young and mature in Porirua and other communities nearby
to design their own pink support wear as part of the Pinikilicious campaign this year.
Pinikilicious is a community outreach campaign that encourages church communities to make the health and wellbeing of
Pasifika women and girls one of their priorities.
Caroline Mareko, event coordinator says Pinikilicious is a campaign that unites all Pasifika women by encouraging them
to make their health and wellbeing a priority.
“When you take part in wearing pink this month, you pay tribute to the contribution of Pasifika women in churches,
communities and families and you take action on celebrating the role of Pasifika women in New Zealand.”
“Together, we can honour Pasifika women along with friends and family, so put on something pink and show your support
for Pasifika women health awareness. Everyone is invited.”
The local campaign “Pinikilicious” was launched last year, not only to celebrate being a woman but to improve public
health awareness for women and encourage earlier diagnosis of any diseases, to achieve better survival outcomes.
“We encourage all Pasifika women throughout the Wellington region to wear pink to help us make this year's event the
biggest and pinkest ever.”
“All you have to do is grab something pink to wear and join us on the day to celebrate Pinikilicious,” says Caroline.
The Pinikilicious event day is to be held on Saturday, 15 February, 2014 at the E.F.K.S Porirua, 10 Waihemo Street,
Waitangirua, Porirua from 9:00am – 3:00pm.
