Draft Annual Plan out for consultation
The draft annual plan sets Auckland Council’s proposed budget for the next financial year (1 July 2014 to 30 June 2015)
and our planned investments, services and activities to improve Auckland’s liveability and support growth. The Annual
Plan also incorporates the 21 local board agreements. The draft Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board Agreement (attached)
proposes a programme of activity that builds on the momentum of the past three years. We will continue to invest in
activities that deliver on our priorities of looking after our environment (with a focus on clean waterways and
harbours), delivering easy, connected and safe public transport, making sure our community spaces work for us, ensuring
residents have good-quality and affordable housing, and supporting thriving businesses and employment for our people.

Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan
The Auckland Unitary Plan will ensure that Auckland can meet its economic and housing growth needs and help its centres
meet their real potential, while protecting and enhancing what already makes the region great. For more on the role of

The unitary plan will determine:
• what can be built and where
• how to create a higher quality and more compact Auckland
• how to provide for rural activities
• how to maintain the marine environment.
It replaces the existing Regional Policy Statement and 13 existing district and regional plans. This is the next step in
bringing Auckland together and delivering the vision of the Auckland Plan.
