Hubbards Announces Its Three “Amazing” Local Heroes
Hubbards today announces its three amazing heroes in the cereal maker’s search for people doing amazing things. Each
hero will receive an immediate $5000 donation from Hubbards, plus a proportion of additional funds which will be
determined by votes received from the public.
“Supporting local amazing heroes allows us to help them make a difference in their local communities and we’ve been
overwhelmed by the amount of entries - there are so many incredible people out there,” says Kimberley Thorpe from
Hubbards. “Now it’s the New Zealand public's turn to throw their support behind the heroes by voting for them at the

The three heroes are:
- Jimi Hunt from 'Live More Awesome' aims to raise awareness about depression and how to help people beat it
without drugs. Says Jimi: “We want to improve the mental health of the nation.” Jimi overcame his own personal journey
of depression by travelling across the entire 425km of the Waikato River on an inflatable mattress. He also built the
world's biggest water slide. With the money donated from Hubbards, Jimi plans to have 30,000 gratitude journals in the

- He’s not just a man, he’s Flat Man! Christchurch’s very own superhero turns up at random places and does good
deeds - such as delivering food parcels to student flats in the dark of night. Flat Man says: “The money raised from
Hubbards will be used to continue my work in delivering food packages to deserving homes and carrying out other acts of
kindness throughout Canterbury. It will also help fund my school visits, which I travel to in my newly acquired flat
mobile – I love to inspire kids to be their own superhero". His motto is: "Be a Bruv, Share the Luv". For more

- Tracy Wellington is the founder of Tawa-based charity Kiwi Community Assistance, 100% run by volunteers. The charity
was started after Tracy watched the TV documentary Inside Child Poverty New Zealand and decided she could make a
difference. Tracy says: “We provide a hand up, not a hand out – distributing food, clothing, footwear, furniture and
whiteware for free, to families in the Wellington region. The donations are distributed through existing charities”. Any
funds donated through Hubbards will be used to secure rental for a warehouse to store non-perishable donations. For more
