Hamilton Police launch homicide enquiry following man's death

Hamilton Police investigating an incident in the north of the City this afternoon are appealing for information from the public following a fatal assault.
District Crime Manager, Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Keall, of the Waikato CIB said emergency services were called to a Chartwell address shortly before 2pm.
"Ambulance staff were treating a 38-year-old man at the address for significant injuries however despite their efforts the victim died at the scene.
"A homicide investigation is now underway and a scene examination is about to commence. Police would like to hear from anyone in the area of Winstone Ave, Chartwell between 1pm and 2pm who may have seen or noticed something suspicious."
Mr Keall said anyone with information was asked to contact the Hamilton Central Police Station on 07 858 6200.
Alternatively, information can be left anonymously with the independent organisation Crimestoppers, on 0800 555111.
