Explosion at address - Opouteke Road Northland - Northland

"Police News Alert Issued *** 1.30pm, January 30th (Thursday) ***"
At 12.20pm on Thursday 30th January 2014, a 49 year old man passed away as result of injuries received in the explosion at an address in Opouteke Road, Pakotai last night.
The other injured person, a male, aged 26 years has been transferred to Middlemore Hospital for specialist treatment of the burns he received. His condition is described as stable.
The examination of the scene continues with specialist police staff, ESR and Fire Safety to establish the exact cause of the explosion.
Police ask that any person who may have information to contact the Whangärei Police on 09 430 4500.
The deceased name will not be released until all next of kin have been notified.
