Toddler Drowns On Farm

At around 7.30pm last evening (Tuesday 14 January 2014) a two-year-old girl was reported to Police as missing on a rural farm property at Otapiri in Southland.
She had been missing for one hour and family and farm workers had been searching for her.
Six Police units attended immediately along with the Browns Volunteer Fire Brigade and the St John Ambulance from Winton had also been called to the scene.
At approximately 8.41pm the girl was found in a duck pond on the farm.
Police and Volunteer Fire began CPR but the child was unresponsive.
The family ask for respect and privacy at the time of this tragic loss.
