Case stolen in armed robbery located near Whangarei
Police have located a black case that was stolen during an armed robbery in Whangärei yesterday.
About 2.30pm a man pointed a gun at a security van guard outside a building on Water Street. The man managed to get the case containing a sum of money and then left the scene in a car driven by another man.
The vehicle was then located by Police at 3.30pm on Raumanga Heights Drive. The men were not in the vehicle and are still at large.
Late yesterday afternoon a member of the public spotted the case on Whangärei Heads Road, near Owhiwa Road at Parua Bay. The case was empty.
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in this area between 2.30pm and 5.00pm.
They are also still seeking information on any sightings of the black 1999 Subaru Forrester that was used in the robbery.
