First ever showing of organic wool at 2013 Canterbury A Show
Organically grown and scoured wool will be on display for the first time at the Wool Advancement Group's stand at this
year's Canterbury A show, 13-15 November 2013.
Otago certified organic farmers Grant and Alison Kingsbury will be presenting Texel wool, while Banks Peninsula farmers
Roger and Nicki Beattie will have wool from their Bohepe sheep on display. (The sheep themselves, plus certified organic
Pihepe sheep bred by the Beatties, can be seen at the Beatties' own stand at the Show.)
Rowena MacGill of Bergli Woolcrafts will be demonstrating the craft of making felted soaps with organic wool and soap on
the W.A.G. stand on November 13 and 15 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., and the Organic Dairy and Pastoral Group's Media Liason
Christine Dann will also be available then to answer queries about organic farming.
The Chair of the Organic Dairy and Pastoral Group, Glenn Mead, says that he is delighted that two of the Group's members
have certified organic scoured wool to display this year, and that the ODPG has this opportunity to present the
advantages of organic farming and organic products to farmers and the public.
