Peak time services to increase on busy Tauranga bus routes
For immediate release: 30 September 2013
Peak time services on two of Tauranga’s core bus routes are increasing from 7 October 2013.
The changes to routes 2 and 33 will improve services for commuters to the CBD and improve transfer options for trips to Windermere.
“We are continuously looking at ways to improve our public transport system to reflect changes in demand and need, and to reduce the number of private motor vehicles on our roads,” Bay of Plenty Regional Council Acting Strategy General Manager Garry Maloney says.
“There is demand for increased frequency during peak times and we hope this will provide an incentive for more people to use these bus services.”
Route 2 services will now depart the CBD to the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic at 7.55am, 8.25am, 8.35am, 8.45am and 8.55 and then every 30 minutes throughout the day. There will also be an additional Route 2 trip from Windermere at 3.08pm. This will complement the existing departures at 2.58pm and 3.28pm and every 30 minutes.
Route 33 services between Pāpāmoa and the CBD will also increase, departing every 20 minutes during morning and afternoon peak times.
Route 33 trips will depart Pāpāmoa at 6.35am, 7.05am, 7.25am, 7.45am, 8.05am, 8.35am and every 30 minutes after that. Afternoon trips on this route will depart the CBD at 4.45pm, 5.05pm, 5.25pm, 5.45pm, 6.15pm, and 6.45pm..
Meanwhile, there will also be a slight change to Route 55 from 7 October, with the 2.50pm trip departing slightly later (at 2.55pm) than currently to better accommodate Tauranga Intermediate students.
