Man injured in house fire
At approximately 4.30pm Tuesday, 28 August 2013, a Police patrol on the Kaimai Ranges was advised by a member of the public about a house fire on Ruahihi Road.
On arrival Police found a man who was armed with a weapon and uncooperative who was hindering Police and Fire Service staff from getting to the fire. As a result the Tauranga Armed Offenders Squad were called to assist in taking the man into custody for his own safety.
Once in custody he was given immediate first aid for burns to his torso and hands, along with lacerations to his wrists and throat.
Fire were then able to start work on the containing the fire. The house was extensively damaged. Police will have begun a full scene examination this morning.
