Two lanes restored on State Highway 6
State Highway 6, from Haast to Lake Hawea, re-opened to two lanes late last night after a slip saw several massive rocks
fall onto the highway early Thursday morning closing the road to all traffic.
The NZ Transport Agency's Senior Asset Manager West Coast Mark Pinner says the contractors worked from first light to
dusk yesterday, blasting and removing about 700 tonnes of rock from the site to get the highway re-opened to two-lane
traffic.
The highway was re-opened to single-lane traffic on Friday afternoon.
"The contractors will be back on site, about 1km west of Clarke's Bluff, early this week to complete some clean up work
at the foot of the slip. Motorists are asked to take care travelling through the area."
