Homicide investigation under way
A man is in Police custody following a fatal stabbing in Nelson yesterday evening.
The incident happened at a house in Nile Street shortly before 9pm.
The 30 year old male victim died at the scene.
Detective Senior Sergeant Wayne McCoy said one person remained in custody and Police were not looking for anyone else in relation to the death.
He said officers were yet to fully interview the suspect and charges had not yet been laid.
The scene examination is on hold as ESR scientists have been delayed by fog Christchurch. They are expected to arrive this afternoon.
A car which was crashed on Whakatu Drive after the incident, and which Police believe is related, has been seized.
