Wellington Local Alcohol Policy - submissions flood in
With the Wellington Local Alcohol Policy written submissions closing on Friday, it looks like the Wellington Hospitality industry will be submitting about 4,000 submissions from businesses staff and customers.
We plan on handing over the last of these submissions to Council at 3pm on Friday.
We believe that WCC is trying to use a sledge hammer to crack a nut and major changes are needed to get the draft LAP right. Also based on the research carried out by the Christchurch Council on a benefit v cost analysis of their LAP ( attached), Wellington will be wasting thousands of dollars implementing and managing a LAP that will not change behaviour but will severely damage our vibrant hospitality and tourism sector.
As a sector, we will not sit back and allow bureaucrats, who have never run a business to severely damage our sector which we have spent years building.
