No illegal alcohol sales made durng police operation
On Friday the 26th April during the afternoon, early evening, a Controlled Purchase Operation (CPO) was completed in the
Mid Canterbury area, targeting Off License Premises.
This Operation covered both urban and rural premises.
Seventeen premises in total were visited, with NO sales being made.
Senior Sergeant RUSSELL, Ashburton Police said while the results were very encouraging, it shows that these Premises
have good procedures and policies in place, along with reliable staff ensuring that these are followed.
With this operation, the volunteers enters the bar area and attempts to purchase alcohol. The volunteers are always
under eighteen years of age.
Each premise would receive a letter advising them of the good result.
The Operation is run in conjunction with the Public Health (ACADS) and Police.
