New initiatives will help shape Havelock North in the future
The community is being invited to contribute their ideas on a number of different initiatives which will help shape Havelock North in the future.
Hastings District Council is currently seeking the community’s views on a Reserve Management Plan for the Havelock North Domain, what could be included in a new Local Alcohol Policy (LAP), what you would like to change, protect or see happen in Havelock North (place based plan) and the rules controlling what can be built where (the District Plan).
The domain is the latest public area in Hastings District which will have its own Reserve Management Plan. This will ensure that priorities are allocated to the programming of work and budgeting for the domain. The plan will include concept and development plans and prioritise actions for the next 10 years.
Havelock North Councillor Scott Henderson says “It is vitally important that we hear from the whole community on the development of a Reserve Management Plan for the Domain. This area is iconic to Havelock North and is integral to our way of life. The plan will determine how the domain is developed over the next decade and Council must be sure that the plan meets the public’s aspirations.”
Views are also being sought on the development of a place based plan for Havelock North. This will reflect what the community tells us is important and will be used to guide priorities for future Council activities.
The draft District Plan focusses on land use and subdivisions and there will be a chance for you to leave your comments. Your opinions will also be sought on what could be included in an LAP, which will help guide the supply and consumption of alcohol throughout the whole region.
Councillor Henderson says” There is a lot to think about during this consultation exercise but we have included all the different options at one event to avoid the need for residents to return on a number of different occasions. Each initiative is extremely important in its own right and will have an effect on the lifestyle which we all enjoy in Havelock North”
Information will be available on the Reserve Management Plan, the LAP, the Havelock North place based plan, the draft District Plan and the draft Annual Plan at the Havelock North Community Centre between 10.00am and 4.00pm on Thursday 18th April 2013.
There will be a further opportunity to view and comment on all the initiatives at the Community Centre between 5.00pm and 7.00pm on Tuesday 23rd April.
A phone survey is being undertaken in Havelock North over the next few weeks which will include questions on how you would like Havelock North to look and feel like in the future, what you want to see happen in the Domain and what you think about other Council services.
If you are not called, you can still fill in the survey by going to www.myvoicemychoice.co.nz/havelock
Information and feedback forms on all these Council projects are also available at www.myvoicemychoice.co.nz
