Help Counties Manukau Police find 78 year old Mr Taufa
Counties Manukau Police are concerned about the whereabouts of Mr Taufa. Hateni Taufa is a 78 year old Tongan male who went missing yesterday at around 7.30am in Otahuhu.
Mr Taufa is approximately 170cm tall and of medium build with grey hair. He has no known illnesses and is not believed to be taking medication. His family have advised Police that he is becoming more forgetful, and that it is likely he may be suffering from the early stages of dementia.
Sergeant Simon Walker said, “Mr Taufa was last seen by his daughter at approximately 7.30am on Tuesday 9 April. She dropped him off at the intersection of Hutton Street and High Street in Otahuhu.”
Hateni was wearing a brown zip up jacket with Navy Blue Sleeves, brown trousers and black puma shoes.
It is believed that Taufa was going to the High Street Dairy to buy cigarettes and was going to walk home to Monterey Place once he had done this. Neighbours believe they sighted Hateni shortly after 0730hrs on Fairburn Road, Otahuhu however he never arrived at his home address.
“Taufa has recently moved to the Otahuhu area after previously living in Otara and may not be familiar with the area. He may attempt to make his way back to Otara.”
“So far all attempts to locate Taufa have so far been unsuccessful,” said Sergeant Walker.
