Police seek man who has absconded ahead of trial
Police in Rotorua are seeking public assistance to locate a man who has breached his bail conditions; suspected of
trying to avoid a pending trial.
Kainui Parkinson is facing trial for violence and sexual offending later this year.
He is described as a 39-year-old Maori who is 187cm tall, medium to athletic build. He has a number of tattoos including
a snake on his lower left leg and a ring tattoo on the middle finger of his left hand.
He is known to drive an older style white Mitsubishi ute and has a number of associates on the north Island including
strong family links to Te Kaha, Whanarua Bay, Tauranga, Whanganui and Palmerston North.
He absconded from his Whanganui bail address in mid February. Originally the trial was set down in Rotorua District
Court for March but as the result of some procedural matters is now scheduled for September.
Detective Constable Steve Allpress said: "It is possible that associates will be helping to conceal him and they need to
be clear that we will consider prosecuting anyone who is found to be helping him evade police."
The public are advised not to approach Kainui Parkinson but to report any sightings to police.
