Swanson Mayor in the Chair ‘evening edition’
The Mayor is inviting Waitakere and Swanson locals to an informal community meeting on Tuesday 12 March.
The 6.30pm meeting at the Swanson Primary School Hall is one in a series of regular meetings the Mayor holds around
Auckland to connect with different communities.
In addition to his popular ‘Mayor in the Chair’ lunchtime sessions, Len Brown holds regular ‘Mayor in the Chair evening
edition’ meetings. With the expectation of greater numbers, these meetings follow a ‘town hall’ format where the Mayor
receives questions from the floor.
“Getting out into different communities around Auckland and hearing about their issues helps me stay in touch with
grass-roots issues and get a clearer picture of the challenges we are facing,” says Len Brown.
“These meetings are great opportunities for me to hear from everyday Aucklanders about their experience of living,
working, travelling and playing in Auckland. These sessions are a microcosm of democracy in action, a chance for me to
listen to different points of view, to offer clarity and explanation about council decisions and activities, and
sometimes just have a good old feisty debate.”
“I also hope students from the local schools will come along, I’m always interested to hear what our young people have
to say about their community.”
Individuals and community groups are welcome to attend and share their thoughts directly with the Mayor. Local
councillors and local board members are also invited to attend the informal meeting.
Swanson Primary School is at 703 Swanson Rd, Swanson. The meeting will run from 6.30pm – 8pm.
