Matakana Fire – Update
Active flames in Dome Valley Matakana remained well within the containment lines overnight.
The operation continues its ground based focus, with 70 firefighters and one digger onsite. One helicopter also continues with aerial support.
Bryan Cartelle, Principal Rural Fire Officer, says they are making good progress today.
“We have numbers on the ground and are doing everything to wrap this fire up as quickly as we can.
“The Auckland region wide fire ban remains firmly in place. Breaches of the ban will not be tolerated,” he says.
