Two victims of Water Tragedy located at Piha
Last night at around 7pm three males entered the water at Piha beach on Auckland West Coast.
The three got into difficulty and one was pulled from the water in a serious condition. He is currently receiving medical attention.
An intensive search took place involving surf rescue, Police Helicopter, Westpac Rescue Helicopter and other police staff.
A planned shoreline search this morning, located the bodies of two males on the north side of lion rock at the beach.
Next of kin are still being located and advised.
Whilst the circumstances leading up to the deaths are still being investigated, police wish to remind the public to only swim between surf patrol flags during patrolled times. West coast beaches (as do all beaches) need to be treated with caution and respect.
