We are pleased to announce the album launch of Songs for Christchurch at a free concert on February 24 at 12pm in the Re:START mall.
Songs for Christchurch is a unique music-driven fundraising effort responding to the devastating earthquake that occurred in February 2011. It is a compilation album consisting of songs donated by 21 local and global artists, including Grammy-award winners Imogen Heap and Flights of the Conchords.
This musical effort towards the city's recovery was made possible through donations and all proceeds from the album go towards community projects that are focused on reconstituting Christchurch.
Overall, the project has three goals: raising as much money as possible for the projects in Christchurch, promoting Christchurch and New Zealand artists to overseas audiences, and putting on a free live concert in Christchurch's CBD.
Raised monies will go to community projects in Christchurch run by the following four organisations: Gap Filler, The Festival of Transitional Architecture, Life in Vacant Spaces, and Architecture for Humanity.
The album launch, presented by Art Beat, will feature 5 of the artists from the album: Delaney Davidson, The Nudge, Electric Wire Hustle (sound system), AHoriBuzz, Jessie James and the Outlaws.
