Name release Nawton fleeing driver fatality

The name of a man killed in a fleeing driver related crash in Hamilton early yesterday morning has been released.
He was 17-year-old Rocky Joe Kohatu HEPI of Hamilton.
Mr HEPI died from injuries suffered after he was ejected from the car he was driving when it crashed into a stone retaining wall of a Baverstock Rd address shortly before 2am.
Police had abandoned their pursuit of the stolen vehicle Mr HEPI was driving a short time before the crash and the incident is now the subject of three separate enquiries by Police, the Independent Police Conduct Authority and the Coroner.
A spokesperson for Mr HEPI'S family asked that the family's privacy be respected at this time.
